    Bedsores are a constant threat for individuals whose mobility is impaired by illness, injury or paralysis. When immobility prevents an individual from shifting or making postural adjustments, the sustained pressure of skin against a surface causes bed sores. Friction caused by turning from side to side and shear, which occurs when bone moves in one direction and skin moves in another direction, also cause bedsores.
