Help answer this question below.
Kitty litter is a good substitute if you need to create traction. It makes walking on the area where it is applied much easier and safer. If you live in or do a lot of driving in rural areas in a snowy climate, keep a bag of kitty litter in your trunk. If you become stuck, it might be just what you need to gain enough traction to get moving again. While some kitty litters contain salts, litter does not melt ice with the same effectiveness as ice-melt salt. Ice-melt salt melts ice and then breaks down over time. If your intention is to melt ice on a walkway, then ice-melt salt is your solution. If melting ice is your goal, ice melt salt is the best way to accomplish it. While kitty litter is nice for covering ice and making it easier to walk or drive on, it is not a good alternative for melting ice.On One Hand: Kitty Litter Is Great for Creating Traction
On the Other: Ice-Melt Salt Melts Better

"Sully" the kitten poops outside the litter box. Never in the same spot (so it is hard to do the food trick) but it is always on carpet (usually in a corner). She sits and kneads her claws in the carpet for a minute, walks in circles and poops. HELP?
