Nausea can be signaled by a number of triggers such as smells, taste, food irritants, dizziness, pain and infection. Nausea will often begin suddenly without warning. The treatment for nausea includes providing plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration.
Food Poisoning
Food poisoning causes nausea after an individual consumes contaminated food or a drink. Symptoms that occur within 48 hours of eating the food include nausea, abdominal cramping, vomiting and diarrhea.
Gastrointestinal Virus
The gastrointestinal virus is often known as the stomach flu and is very contagious. Symptoms of the virus include nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramping, headache and fatigue, which can last two to three days.
Motion Sickness
Motion sickness occurs when a person feels sick from movement such as riding in a car, plane or boat. Symptoms include dizziness, nausea, fatigue or anxiety.
Morning Sickness
Pregnant women in their first trimester of pregnancy often experience symptoms of morning sickness. Those may include nausea, vomiting and fatigue.
Vertigo
People with vertigo experience the sensation of their environment moving or spinning around them. Symptoms of vertigo include sweating, nausea and abnormal eye movements, which may last from minutes to even hours.
