    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

In 1897, the first cathode ray tube (CRT), called the Braun Tube, was invented and named after the German inventor Karl Ferdinand Braun. A CRT is a glass vacuum tube in which focused electron beams strike a phosphorescent surface to produce images. Cathode ray tubes are used in televisions, video cameras, computers and automated teller machines.
