    Dogs show a remarkable ability to sense seizures, cancer and various ailments in humans including fibromyalgia, Crohn's Disease and even the presence of blood in pinpoint amounts. It's probable that a dog would be able to sense infection considering the signs of these other illnesses are more subtle.
