You have an intelligent mind and an open one too. Most people just take what they are spoon fed and don't bother to challenge anything. If you do some "googling" on Easter origins, you will be really surprised to find out where they came from.

it took some doing.. basically the early Catholics were smarter then the current religious people...they realized that it was easier to convert people if you let them keep some of their traditions and just incorportated them into the new religion...

Actually is the resurrection of Jesus that is commemorated on Sunday. Sorry to say I have no idea, It's mostly an American thing, I guess.

The Easter Bunny is a rabbit-spirit. Long ago, he was called the "Easter Hare", hares and rabbits have frequent multiple births so they became a symbol of fertility. The custom of an Easter egg hunt began because children believed that hares laid eggs in the grass. The Romans believed that "All life comes from an egg." Christians consider eggs to be "the seed of life" and so they are symbolic of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. As for the colouring of eggs???? Don't know.
