  • Finding the value of your car is easy to do and takes only a few minutes online once you've gathered the information about your car that sites such as Kelley Blue Book and NADA need.

    Essential Information

Age and condition are key to determining your car's value, says Jessica Seubert of bankrate.com. You'll need the year, make, model, options and mileage for your vehicle as well as an assessment of wear and tear.

    Kelley Blue Book

Kelley Blue Book's website asks for your zip code first as value is based on where you live. You then enter information about your car, and whether you want trade-in, private party or retail values.

    NADA

NADA also wants your zip code and basic car information. It then returns value estimates based on rough trade-in (car in bad condition), average trade or clean trade (car in excellent condition).

    Comparable Sales

You can also use comparable prices to estimate your car's value. Cars.com lists inventory of car dealers within a specified distance; you can search its website to see what similar cars are selling for.

    Offline Searches

You can also search car dealer and classified ads in your local newspaper to see what similar cars are selling for.
