If your friends and family are planning a baby shower for your second baby, then go for it. There is nothing wrong with celebrating every baby. One big reason people have baby showers is to make sure the parents have everything they need to take care of the baby, like a crib, stroller and baby clothes. These are expensive items. In the case of a second baby, the parents may already have these big ticket items but may need disposable items such as diapers, wipes or formula.

    On the Other: No Gift-Grubbing

If you are planning the shower for yourself or are asking friends and family to host a second shower, then you may want to reconsider. General etiquette states that a shower (especially a second shower) should be thrown for you as a celebration and preparation for a baby and not as way for you to get a good haul.

    Bottom Line

It's perfectly fine and gracious for you to accept a second shower if thrown by your friends. Especially if the second baby is a different gender from the first, there are lots of new things you might need, and a party is always fun. However, if you are at the helm of this second shower, and are fishing for more gifts, you will want to reconsider.
