The Naruto manga series follows the story of a young boy ninja named Uzumaki Naruto in a world filled with powerful ninjas who can perform a wide array of abilities similar to magic.
Publications
The Naruto manga series is released in a publication that contains many other chapters of other manga, and collections of Naruto chapters are later released in books dedicated only to Naruto manga.
Anime vs Manga
The Naruto anime series is based on the manga, but certain episodes of the anime series contain new characters and plots not seen in the manga; these added plotlines are often dubbed "filler."
Flash Forward
The Naruto anime series was rebooted as "Naruto Shippuden" after a three-year leap ahead in the story's timeline; the Naruto manga itself did not restart at chapter 1 after this time jump and kept the title Naruto.
