Anatrim is sold as an appetite suppressant. Most people have heard about Anatrim from mass e-mails sent out by the manufacturer, but no contact information is given when the link is followed. The manufacturers attest that the product is made in the U.S.
Ingredients
The ingredients in Anatrim are: hoodia gordonii, garcinia cambogia, green tea extract, dandelion root powder, ginger root and spirulina. There are no scientific studies that show a connection between either ginger root or spirulina and weight loss. Dandelion root is a diuretic, meaning it increases the excretion of urine. Garcinia cambogia has been shown to reduce food intake and suppress food fatty acid synthesis. Hoodia gordonii is a cactus from southern Africa and is widely used and sold as a weight loss aid. Green tea extract is also widely used and sold as a weight loss aid.
Advantages
Anatrim does not contain ephedra, an additive that can have dangerous effects. The product can also be ordered online, which is a convenience for some.
Disadvantages
There is no official Web site for Anatrim, which raises red flags for consumers. In fact, the product relies on spam mail for marketing. Anatrim has not been subject to any controlled, standardized tests.
Warning
No information can be found about where Anatrim pills are manufactured, nor is there credible information about the purity of the product. Although Anatrim is shown as being a trademarked term, the U.S. Patent Office does not have record of an application for Anatrim.
Alternatives
There are many alternatives to diet pills to aid with weight loss. Exercise, diet, joining support groups, hypnosis and therapy have all been proven to help people shed pounds.
