Ocular migraines are distinguished from normal migraines in that the pain is focused around the eye area. In addition to migraine symptoms, double vision or flickering lights may be experienced.

While the exact cause is unknown, links to nerve palsy and low blood sugar have been linked to occurrences.
Prevention
Good health habits play a key role in the prevention of migraines. Get plenty of sleep, eat healthy foods and use stress-relieving techniques such as meditation.
Rest
Once an ocular migraine begins, it's important to rest immediately. Find a dark, quiet area and try to go to sleep if possible.
OTC Medication
Taking aspirin or an over-the-counter medication that combats migraine pain as soon as the ocular migraine begins will help soothe symptoms.
Consult a Doctor
If you find you're getting reoccurring ocular migraines, consult a doctor. She can provide prescription medications such as Frova, Maxalt and Zomig among others to prevent and treat symptoms.
