    HDMI cables have the ability to carry both audio and video signals in a single cable. However, most laptops that have connections for HDMI cables are unable to do this task. Alternatively, a 3.5mm mini-headphone cable with male connectors on each end can be plugged into the headphone jacks on the laptop and television to transfer audio.
