<h4 class="dechead">On One Hand: White Walls Accent Oak
Oak cabinets, baseboards, paneling and floors that are properly sanded and preserved are a beautiful thing. To properly accent the natural open-grained beauty of oak wood, it is a good idea to paint the adjoining walls an off-white. This reflects light onto the oak wood and emphasizes the beautiful grain.
On the Other: Add Some Color To Your Room
There are many species of oak that can be milled to provide lumber for interior woodwork. Among these is the red oak, which true to its name shows a hint of red when sanded, polished and finished. Choose a pastel or rouge wall color that brings out the red in the wood.
Bottom Line
Large volumes of pure white or off-white on the walls and ceiling does a wonderful job in accenting oak woodwork or cabinets. This does not change if your wood surface has a hint of color. Keep color in the walls to a minimum for a beautiful overall appearance.
