An article by Lifehacker.com states that $35 worth of ingredients will make seven six packs worth of beer. This breaks down to $5 for each six pack. Six packs bought at the store will range from $7 to $9.

On the Other: Time Spent Waiting

Brewing your own beer does take time and effort. Between starting the brewing process, to allowing the fermentation to happen, and applying the carbonation, you could be looking at anywhere from two weeks to over a month before that beer is ready.

    Bottom Line

If saving the $3 dollars per six pack is worth the time and effort for you, than brewing your own beer is a cheaper solution to purchasing beer at the store.
