  • 83 in a 55 is a very serious offense. You're lucky you only got recless driving, and not a speeding ticket with it. My suggestion is suck it up and learn from your mistake. Consider yourself lucky that you didn't kill someone.
  • WOW That is way too fast, and reckless driving is a serious offense, in which you could lose your license for a period of time, and pay alot of money for. I dont think they will reduce it, just explain you are sorry and didn't realize your speed was that excessive, that is all you can do.
  • I agree that 28 mph over the speed limit is WAY too fast to be going, especially at the age of 16. I'm not calling you a bad driver, but I won't hesitate to call you inexperienced. I look back at when I was 16 and realize that I wasn't anywhere near the level of driving I'm at now. Your best bet is basically going to be completely honest, not be an ass to the magistrate/judge or officer, apologize by saying "what I did was completely irresponsible of me, and I'm in realization of that now, however, this experience has opened my eyes and I would like to ask for a reduction of the charge I was given." Don't lie, dress up for the hearing, and in the mean time, watch your speed, because if you get caught speeding again between now and your hearing, you have no chance! Good luck, and be careful...please.
  • I hope not. Sorry, better this lesson stick you in the wallet now than in the head later...when you go through a windshield, or the heart after you have accidentally killed someone, or their child, or a family. Kids driving this dumb...and adults too, kill themselves or other innocent people EVERY SINGLE DAY. I spent too much quality time cleaning up after accidents and reporting the deaths to parents and family members to close my eyes and heart to this subject. Don't continue to drive this way, or you maybe the next dead or the next to murder for the sake of a "thrill"..pull a dead baby out of it's car seat and have to tell the parents their baby is DEAD because of a reckless driver out for a good time...I bet you join my band wagon...after you finish throwing up like I did.
  • Slow down & you won't get in trouble in the future... And it is very unlikely you can get the charge reduced, however if you apologise sincerely you may get a reduction in your sentencing.
  • I am 16 yrs old and I was charged with reckless driving as well. I was going 75 mph in a 45 mph zone. This is my first ticket as well that i have ever recieved. I have a court date in Dec. Please let me know how your court date went...im very interested to hear. Is there anything I can do to get the charge reduced or even dismissed? Will my insurance be sky rocketing?
  • 28 mph over the limit is reckless driving you moron. At 16 you really have no clue.
  • I don't think there is anything you could do, for reckless driving sometimes they will add points on your license or your license could be suspended for at least 30-60 days or until your 18th birthday, it really depends on what the judge says. there's always a fine and court cost involves also your insurance will raise higher. This is not a simple traffic violation, you could have killed someone.
  • Your license should be suspended for 90 days and then restricted for the next 90 days in my opinion!! Think about what would happen if you actually hit something or SOMEONE at that speed!!! You need to LEARN now before anything does happen and someone does get hurt! PLEASE SLOW DOWN... I'm a 24 year-old that got my license at 16 and have NEVER had a ticket EVER, so obviously there is no need to drive recklessly! ***Usually it doesn't get you anywhere any faster and just slows you down by getting pulled over for it or getting into an accident.***
  • Your license should be revoked. Your parents should never let you behind the wheel of a car insured by them ever again. You are a lawsuit waiting to happen.
  • Two things: 1. go have your car calabrated, see if your speedometer is off. 2. Ask the judge if you can take a drivers safety class, this will usually reduce the charges. Also, the new law says that if you get a speeding ticket before your 21 you will have to take the written exam again on your next license renewal.
  • I would love to know what happened in May, 2007 since I was so late in giving my personal opinion to your question?
  • Did you learn anything from this experience?
  • This kid came here for advice on how he could act in court to lessen his chances of having a misdemeanor charge put on his record and interfere with his future so unless you want to answer his question the self-righteous people who want to preach to him about how good and pious THEY are should piss off
  • 1. GET AN ATTORNEY! I know it sounds like its going to be costly but I guarantee he will be able to reduce it. And paying him $350 bucks is nothing compared to how much your insurance is going to jump. 2. Go to court with your Attorney, dressed nicely and be respectful to the judge and police officer. The more you come off like an asshole the less likely you're going to make any dint in the damages. 3. Good luck!
  • Plead insanity.
  • If you were a celebrity then you say you were being chased by the paparazzi, seemed to work for David Beckham ? So just say some thugs in a car were threatening you and you were trying to get away :) Got to be worth a try :)
  • I hope not, you deserve everything you get you little shit!
  • Well what do you expect for risking peoples lives? Even now your not being responsible because your trying to worm your way out of it..
