  • Acne is a skin condition common among young people, including models. The blackheads, pimples and redness that accompany acne can appear on the chest as well as the face, shoulders and back.

    Causes

Chest acne is caused when dirt, oil and sweat combine with dead skin cells to form a plug that clogs the pores of the skin. Models are exposed to bright lights and physical activity that may increase sweat on the chest area, leading to acne.

    Antibacterial Body Wash

A mild soap that contains antibacterial ingredients helps to keep the chest skin clean and bacteria-free. Some facial washes can also be applied to the chest area to wash the acne-affected skin twice a day.

    Salicylic Acid

A skin-shedding ingredient, such as salicylic acid, is helpful in decreasing acne on the chest. Some body washes include salicylic acid, and some facial lotions that contain the ingredient can also be used on the chest.

    Benzoyl Peroxide

The bacteria that contribute to acne flareups cannot survive in an oxygenated environment, and benzoyl peroxide is an ingredient that brings oxygen to the skin. It also aids in drying and peeling the skin to keep pores clear, especially on the chest.

    Retinol

Some acne lotions contain retinol, which is derived from vitamin A and helps dead skin cells to shed at a quicker rate. When used on the chest, retinol may cause the skin to be more susceptible to a sun burn.
