    Great Answer

    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

Requirements to obtain an armed security guard license vary from state to state. The requirements in the state of Tennessee are fairly basic and include background checks and classroom training.

    Age

All armed security guards in Tennessee must be at least 21 years old.

    Drugs and Alcohol

All guards must be "free of habitual drunkenness" or dependencies.

    Character

Applicants must be of good moral character and mentally competent under the law.

    Criminal Record

Applicants must be free of criminal convictions, including convictions that only result in probation. They must submit fingerprint cards for FBI and Tennessee criminal background checks.

    Classes

Guards will be required to take 12 hours of classes, including four relating to the legal duties of a guard and another eight relating to firearm safety and law. Guards may be required to study additional material if they carry any other form of weapon such as pepper spray or a night stick.
