The most durable bathtubs are made of cast iron. Because iron is such an extremely strong material, these tubs can last a very long time. The drawbacks of cast iron bathtubs are that they are much more expensive than other tubs and are so heavy that sometimes the floors underneath them must be reinforced.
Bottom Line
As long as acrylic bathtubs are well-maintained and not cleaned with highly acidic cleaners, which can can cause the acrylic to crack, they are durable. Overall, acrylic tubs are a solid choice for your bathroom.
