    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

Charles Paulson Ginsburg invented the first videotape cassette recorder. Leading the research team at Ampex Corporation, he introduced the recorder in March of 1956. The first videotape cassette recorder sold for $50,000. It became popular in the 1980s, and it was commonly referred to as a VCR.
