Grass is an acceptable surface for placing your portable basketball goal. Follow the directions that came with the basketball goal for setting it up and make sure to place the goal on a level surface.

On the Other: It will kill the grass.

The grass underneath the base of the basketball goal will die if the goal is not moved every 4 to 5 days. The lack of sunlight will eventually cause the grass to die if the goal is not moved.

    Bottom Line

Placing the base of a portable basketball goal on grass is a viable option if gravel or asphalt is not available. If you leave the goal in the same place for more than a week then it is inevitable that the grass will begin to die.
