Time Frame

Because Forane causes drowsiness, avoid driving or operating heavy machinery for the first 24 hours after receiving Forane, suggests the Mayo Clinic.

Drug Interactions

Because Forane slows down the activities in your central nervous system, combining the drug with medications that have similar effects is unsafe. Drugs to avoid include antihistamines, sedatives, tranquilizers, narcotic pain relievers, barbiturates, muscle relaxants and anti-seizure medications, reports the Mayo Clinic.

Risks

Forane poses a risk for respiratory depression, a life-threatening condition in which your brain is unable to properly control your breathing, warns RxList. Other risks associated with Forane are elevated blood potassium levels, hyperthermia (increased body temperature) and liver inflammation or jaundice.

Considerations

Because its effects upon fetal development are unknown, doctors rarely prescribe Forane for use in pregnant women. If you have a history of allergic reactions to anesthetic or hyperthermia, it may not be safe for you to take Forane, cautions RxList.
