The wax ring on your toilet is a seal between the pipe that goes to your sewer line or septic tank and your toilet. Wax rings are quite durable, but occasionally must be replaced if the toilet has been moved or they are very old. Signs that a wax ring may need replacing are a smell that does not go away with cleaning or leaking when the toilet is flushed.
