Which is better: TiVO or DVR from satellite television provider?

better for your money is DVR. If you are looking simply for an alternative to setting your VCR, then DVR is amazing. It is usually much easier to operate and your dont need any additional equipment (other than your cable box, possibly a new cable box). If you are looking for a much more in-depth and expensive program, then TIVO is good. it has the capability of holding a higher capacity of shows and has special settings, like it can record shows it "think" you will like based on your interest in other shows. In my opinion, it is just a bunch of uneccesary money and features, DVR works great for my family!

- I've had a chance to test out my grandmother's DVR from her DISH satellite subscription. I've never been able to test a TiVO. The DVR is quite nice.

- Yea, the tiv o is just fancier. If you are happy with DVR, i would just get that. Unless you are specifically wanting something more or fancier, just stick with DVR.
