better for your money is DVR. If you are looking simply for an alternative to setting your VCR, then DVR is amazing. It is usually much easier to operate and your dont need any additional equipment (other than your cable box, possibly a new cable box). If you are looking for a much more in-depth and expensive program, then TIVO is good. it has the capability of holding a higher capacity of shows and has special settings, like it can record shows it "think" you will like based on your interest in other shows. In my opinion, it is just a bunch of uneccesary money and features, DVR works great for my family!
