I LOVE Simon and Garfunkel. Scarborough Fair is one of my favorites. I don't think I could pick just ONE.

The last time they performed together, I wanted to go SOOO bad, but I just couldn't. They weren't performing close enough.

When I feel in a nostalgic mood I often slip a Simon & Garfunkel CD in the player in the car. I enjoyed all of their albums, as well as their individual stuff. I love Art's Angel Claire album and Paul's Here Comes Rhymin' Simon album, but my favourite early Simon and Garfunkel track is America, from the Bookends album:

Let us be lovers we'll marry our fortunes together
I've got some real estate here in my bag
So we bought a pack of cigarettes and Mrs. Wagner's pies
And we walked off to look for America
Cathy I said as we boarded a Greyhound in Pittsburgh
Michigan seems like a dream to me now
It took me four days to hitchhike from Saginaw
I've gone to look for America
Laughing on the bus playing games with the faces
She said the man in the gabardine suit was a spy
I said be careful his bowtie is really a camera
Toss me a cigaret I think there's one in the raincoat
We smoked the last one an hour ago
So I looked at the scenary she read her magazine
And the moon rose over an open field
Cathy I'm lost I said though I knew she was sleeping
I'm empty and aching and I don't know why
Counting the cars on the New Jersey Turnpike
They've all come to look for America
All come to look for America

Love 'em. It's very hard to choose a favourite, but it might be Baby Driver... though my favourite version of a S&G song is the version of America on the Concert in Central Park.

Anyone familiar with the music of Simon & Garfunkel couldn't possibly choose ONE song!! I have often pondered what propelled them to 'disband' if indeed that is the proper way to phrase that question? Paul Simon of course continued on with a successful solo career, so my question is how much [or little] did Art contribute to their ?musicianship? [sorry - couldn't think of an appropriate word there], but oh could they harmonize - gives one goosebumps. Yes,I know Garfunkel 'tried' his hat at solo... I'll leave the ellipses for you, dear reader. So, were you expecting me to say "The Sound of Silence," "Bridge Over Troubled Water," or, how about "I Am A Rock," "Scarborough Fair"... Gotta say - Thanks for getting me to remember a truly Golden Time in Music history, "Mrs. Robinson"
    Affectionately, Small Paul

Smart2 is back! Did you miss me?

I like most of their music, but to pick a favorite wouled likely be Homeward Bound. I clearly remember back during the height of the Vietnam conflict, a friend had an apartment where he invited friends to paint the living room walls with whatever they wanted to express themselves with. Someone had painted an American flag-draped coffin and underneath it written "Homeward Bound". I think that song had special meaning for me after that, although I don't think that was what they were singing about.

I, like many of the others who have answered, love Bridge Over Troubled Water, but I think my all time fave is "For Emily, wherever I may find her". This song is truly a showcase for Paul Simon's poetry, and Art Garfunkel's superb vocals.
