  • Rosetta Stone Explorer is a language-learning computer program created by Rosetta Stone Ltd. It is an introductory program, comprising only a small part of the complete Rosetta Stone language series.

    Availability

The Rosetta Stone Explorer programs have been discontinued and are no longer sold directly by the company.

    Types

Rosetta Stone Explorer was produced for each language program that the company offered (It currently offers programs in 31 languages). Each Explorer program comes from Version 2 of Rosetta Stone. The most popular languages are now in Version 3.

    Method

Rosetta Stone programs teach language skills by immersion in the language rather than through grammar drills and translation.

    Content

The Rosetta Stone Explorer program consists of the first 22 chapters of the Level 1 course for each language, or about 25 percent of the Level 1 course. It lacks the printed materials that accompany the complete Level 1 course.

    Cost

The Explorer programs retailed for around $25, depending on the source, and now sell used for around $20.
