Non-small-cell lung cancer and small-cell lung cancer are the main types of cancers found in the lungs. The treatment options depend on the type and stage of lung cancer.
Surgery for Lung Cancer
Lung cancer that has not spread outside of the chest can normally be treated by surgery. Surgery for lung cancer can range from removing a small section of the lung to removing an entire lung depending on the severity of the cancer.
Chemotherapy for Lung Cancer
Chemotherapy, a combination of drugs given by mouth or intravenously, is used to stop or slow the growth of lung cancer.
Radiation for Lung Cancer
External beam radiation treatments, which kill cancer cells, are usually used to treat lung cancer.
Photodynamic Therapy for Lung Cancer
Photodynamic therapy is used to help treat lung cancer that is in the bronchial tubes. If the cancer is caught in its early stages, photodynamic therapy can get rid of the cancer.
