The Unilock website gives the sizes for each type of paver they make. Carefully measure your sidewalk's length and width and divide these measurements by the length and width of the Unilock pavers you plan to use for the main area or field. If you plan to use a different paver for the border, deduct that paver's measurements from those of your sidewalk before dividing by the field paver's dimensions.

On the Other: Allow for Damage and Cuts

Purchase approximately ten percent more Unilock pavers than your measurements show you need for your sidewalk. This will give you leeway for pavers that you must cut and also for any pavers that arrive to your site already damaged.

    Bottom Line

Plan your layout carefully, using graph paper or the help of a representative at a Unilock authorized dealer for complex patterns. Place cut Unilock pavers evenly on each side of your plan to give a more balanced look. For example, if your sidewalk's width requires an extra half paver, cut and place a quarter paver on each side. Never try to make do without buying extra for damage and cut allowances.
