Since almost all network television broadcasts are either required or choose to broadcast in HD, most television service providers, such as the Dish Network sell HD cable subscriptions. Dish Network's Turbo HD offers several affordable HD TV packages.
Misconceptions
The Dish Network's Turbo HD service now goes by the name DISH HD. This satellite television service offers several different high definition TV packages.
Types
As of 2009, the Dish Network offers three HD packages: 55 (Bronze), 70 (Silver) or 80 (Gold) HD channels added to the Classic service. Only the Classic Gold plus 80 HD channels offers all standard cable and HD channels on the Dish Network.
Features
The Silver plan offers all of the Bronze-level channels plus networks such as FX and Animal HD. In addition, some areas of the country also get regional sports coverage. The Gold includes Silver and Bronze level channels plus National Geographic and Hallmark HD, as well as the Encore movie channel.
Benefits
Only Dish Network's HD packages offer high definition channels, which display a much crisper and clearer picture and broadcast in digital surround sound.
Considerations
As of 2009, Dish Network offers to add HD channels to any of its Classic packages, except DishFamily, for an extra $10 a month. If a customer signs a two-year contract, Dish Network reduces total monthly rates $15.
