The first known postal service was discovered in a papyrus that read "Write to me by the letter-carrier," created about 2000 B.C. by the Egyptians. Another early postal service was established by Cyrus the Great of Persia; that postal system used a series of relay messengers who would deliver packages and messages by horseback to designated post-houses.
