With technology advancing every day, people are relying on their cell phones for more and more. A PDA, or personal digital assistant, is a cell phone that can not only be used to make and receive phone calls but help its user organize, store information and even create documents.

A PDA cell phone is a hand-held computer that can be used to track and organize data, make and receive phone calls, and run a variety of multipurpose applications.
History
The first PDA cell phone was created by Qualcomm with the debut of the pdQ Smartphone, which was a rather large and expensive piece of equipment costing $800. PDAs since have risen in popularity and are now sold by many manufacturers at more affordable prices.
Features
Features of PDAs vary by make and model. Common features included in most PDAs are Web browsers, calendars, alarm clocks, digital cameras, voice recognition, GPS and security software.
Customization
PDAs come in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors to suit everyone's needs. They can also be customized to a user's personal preferences with custom ring tones, themes, backgrounds and screen-savers.
Major Brands
As of 2009. the major manufacturers of PDAs were BlackBerry, Palm, HTC and Apple.
