Being in the Military for 13 years, i would have to say yes and no. Yes because the military is so involved in your personal life and governs where you go and what you do. And no, because there is so many benifits that they give you in return for your service both in and out of the military

i think that pretty much sums it up.

'Puppet' is a very light term. Rather, you become part of the government's killing machine.
-
Its more like you become a tool. As in you are a military device that is used in the manner the government sees fit. Puppet? perhaps either way you are being used and have little say in what you do under the service of the military. Is it good or bad? That depends on the war and the manner of the usage of the "tool" which I will relinquish my opinion in an answer for a questions better suited for.

I don't care. As long as I get to kill. HOOAH!
-
Sure, some might think of it like that, though it probably is worse the higher you get up, and the more specialized you get, and the more responsibilities and more awards you achieve. Coins always have two sides to them, and though many are used, knowingly and unknowlingly, and though some might not even care, or care but can't get out, there is always the fact that there is honor in serving and the government takes care of their "puppets".
-
Not in the least.
-
Of course it does, just as being a citizen of the USA makes us "The Government". This is a Representative Democracy, remember - Government of the people, for the people, by the people. Get out and vote!!!
