If you want to get cable running to television sets throughout your house, the best way to accomplish this is with a cable TV splitter.
What It Does
A cable TV splitter allows you to hook your cable into two or more televisions through your house. Splitters may be inside the walls or out in the open.
How It Works
The splitter simply connects two different wires to one base wire to lead the signal in two different directions. Since the cable signal is very fast moving information, there is no lag in information for more than one television.
Output
Depending on the manufacturing of the splitter, you can usually tell how many televisions can be served by a particular splitter. Each port on the splitter serves one television. A common make is two ports, but as many as eight ports are available.
Additional Output
Splitters are set at a certain amount of signal to be produced. If you try to hook up more than the allotted televisions to the splitters, reception may suffer.
Specifications
Cable splitters are different from satellite splitters. The inner workings for a satellite splitter are different than the cable splitter, so don't try to cross the two.
