Every wet bar is different, but the key characteristic they have in common is running water. Adding a wet bar can enhance property value and upgrade home entertainment options.
Identification
A wet bar must contain a sink and running water. Their presence is what makes a wet bar wet. The sink doesn't have to be large, and most bar sinks are smaller than kitchen sinks.
Features
A wet bar must include a bar or counter for mixing drinks. The bar typically has storage space for glasses, napkins, liquor bottles and accessories. Some wet bars accommodate ice makers or mini-refrigerators.
Types
Wet bars can be permanent built-in features, but they can be portable, as well. The portable wet bar--typically on caster wheels--stows away when not in use.
Location
Home wet bars can be found in basements, living/dining room areas and outdoor patios. Upscale hotels may also offer in-room wet bars.
Considerations
A wet bar should have electrical outlets nearby for blenders, juicers and mixers.
