  • To clean your LCD computer screen, mix 50% water and 50% isopropyl alcohol in a spray bottle. On a clean soft cloth (I use a T-shirt) spray a small amount of the solution on the cloth. Turn off the screen, then you can see the dirt and smudges better. Wipe the computer screen very gently and it will come clean very easily. The alcohol will not harm your screen in any way! It will dry very quickly, because of the alcohol solution. I got this tip from the Kim Komando radio program, about four years ago and have been using it on both of my computers. If you want to spend a little money, pick up some "electronic cleaning wipes" from walmarts. Have a Great Day!!

  • Vinegar is great for a lot of things from cleaning coffeepots, a bit in rinse water when you don't have fabric softener. It can safely be used diluted with water to clean hardwood floors. And my all time favorite use for it, don't laugh. . .it can ease the pain of a sunburn. Want to make that chrome sparkle without streaks, use glass cleaner. I learned that one from a hotel maid. You can make your own homemade glass cleaner with amonia, isopropal alcohol and a drop of dish detergent diluted with water. It goes further and is just as effective as the commercial brands. Don't use an old bottle for this though get a new one and be sure to label it. Mix in a spray bottle: 1 cup rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol 1 cup water 1 tablespoon clear, non-sudsing ammonia Ammonia is a strong alkaline. Using this recipe with ammonia is a stronger version of the cleaning recipe that contains vinegar. Baking soda is also another great tool. You can use for more than household cleaning. If you use clay cat litter, put a bit of baking soda in it to help keep the odors down. It can be used to clean teeth in a pinch. A paste of it is effective on insect bites.
