B.A.

"B.A." stands for Bachelor of Arts. In this type of degree, typically a person will major in an arts field (as opposed to a scientific field).

B.A. Fields

Some examples of majors in a Bachelor of Arts programs include actual art degrees, such as visual arts and performing arts (music, dance, and theater). However, other degree programs also fall under the B.A. category, such as education, humanities, social sciences, and communications.

B.A. vs. B.S.

A Bachelor of Arts degree generally has its opposite in the Bachelor of Science degree, or B.S. degree. A B.S. degree is for people who major in the sciences, math, or other technical fields.

Well-Rounded Education

A B.A. degree generally requires students to complete courses in a variety of disciplines, regardless of their academic major. While a student will focus his classes in his major area, he will also take courses in other areas in order to ensure that he receives a well-rounded education in a variety of subjects.
