A screenplay is a specially formatted story written to become a motion picture. Movie screenplays fetch fees depending on the amount of demand for the project, the screenwriter's stature, the film budget and the caliber of the producer. While no universal standard purchasing price exists, entertainment lawyer Jesse Rosenblatt cites mandated minimums for Writer's Guild of America members as approximately $40,700 for low budget (less than $5,000,000) production scripts and $113,600 for higher budget (above $5,000,000) films.
