A GM certified warranty is an extended warranty program that comes with used GM cars meeting certain specifications and purchased at a certified GM dealership.
Function
The GM certified warranty provides bumper-to-bumper coverage on the cost of repairs for 12 months or 12,000 miles on any malfunctions or equipment failure on any GM-certified used car.
Features
To be included under the GM Certified Program a car must be a 2005 or newer model with less than 75,000 miles. It must also pass a 117-point inspection.
Additional Coverage
Along with the GM-certified bumper-to-bumper warranty, GM certified used cars come with a 100,000 mile/five-year power train warranty that can be transferred from owner to owner.
Significance
According to GMcertified.com, the GM warranties provide coverage four times longer than those offered by Toyota, Ford and Chrysler.
Additional Features
GM Certified cars also come with 24-hour roadside assistance for any car that is still covered under the power train warranty.
