A cheap analog splitter will also split digital cable signals, but the picture will be compromised. If you're looking to split digital cable for as cheap as possible, you can buy an analog splitter at Radioshack for less than $10.
Bottom Line
If you're going to spend the money for a digital cable signal, then don't bother going cheap with your splitter. You'll just compromise the quality of your picture and weaken the signal. Spend the money, and do it right.
