Why do cordless landline phones have a short and limited range, but cellphones do not?

    Cordless landline phones are limited in range because they can only communicate with their base station, as opposed to cellphones which can communicate with multiple cell phone towers. The base station of a cordless landline phone doesn't use as much power, because household appliances are required to be limited in their usage of the airwaves.
