Because insurance companies will do anything in their power not to pay for a claim. I'm willing to bet that few (if any) insurance adjusters have ever been abuse victims.

Because the health insurance industry has abandoned its' intended purpose. They expect customers to pay in, but will avoid paying out whenever possible.

Same reason that it is tough to get life insurance if you like to go sky diving. What moron is going to insure you against something that has a high risk of happening-in this case bodily harm and a trip to the ER?
