  • There could be a number of problems. First I would suspect a virus. Boot to safe mode and see if you still have the problem and try and do a virus scan while in safe mode. Also, I remember my computer doing this if I try to turn it on and I leave an unbootable floppy disk in the floppy drive. I would just pop it out and it would start like normal. Also did it once with an unbootable external hard drive.
