I don't think I'd change the name the kid's ACTUAL parents gave it if I were in that situation. But I don't think it's terrible of her to give it the name she wants, since it's now her child.

I think it is up to her, but I think if I was in her place and wanted to switch the name, I would switch the original name to the middle name.
