Does it seem like America runs on debt? Mortgages, credit cards, student loans etc...

    America, Britain, and probably most of the developed world. We have grown up as a spending generation and our children will bear the brunt of that in the form of weakened economies.

    Yes, and it's gotten a lot worse in recent years. We shifted from a producer to a consumer society thanks to the automobile, roarin' '20s, WWII (guns and butter), and the economy of the 1950s. I personally live debt-free (I don't carry a balance on my card from month to month), but will be getting a mortgage or two eventually. I grew up with delayed gratification because I had to save for albums I wanted to purchase, the 12-string guitar I bought...
