I think the woodpecker was try to be brave and defend its home and eggs from the snake but who knows what goes on in it's mind.

Well done little woodpecker but, I think you were beating your little life against something much bigger than you. Humans would have been given medals for what you tried to do.

Fantastic video - Thanks! Bearing in mind that the woodpecker seemed to be still finishing off the hole's entrance at first I am not sre there were eggs inside - he seemed not to realise there was a snake in there at first. Maybe he was a one year old male who just didn't know better and just defended his territory. God knows. Brilliant stuff.
