First of all, do not feel guilty. The only thing you should feel guilty about is doing anything wrong that you knew was wrong at the time and that you willingly and knowingly did without regard to the consequences. For example, being raped is not adultery, since you do not willingly participate. Secondly, there is no absolute consensus about which of the laws of the Old Covenant are still in effect. When Jesus came to earth and died for our sins, He established a New Covenant, which did away with the old one and its legalistic approach to our relationship with God. Different denominations within Christianity interpet this New Covenant differently, with some carrying more of the Old Testament laws forward into the present day. Obviously I am approaching this question from a Christian perspective, since anyone from a Jewish or Muslim background would already be familiar with their own faith community's position on the subject.

Don't feel guilty, you still have time. Promise to God that you will never touch it again and ask Him to forgive you.

No such thing as God. Enjoy the pig
-
Forget about this 'God' thing and have some more bacon.
-
If it says so in the Bible, then you're probably gonna go to hell for that bacon......... but hey, the devil has all the best tunes!!
-
Don't worry about it. In my religion. pig (boar, specifically) is practically our liturgical meat. :) So go have another ham steak.
-
That was in the Old Testament. Once Jesus came to earth things changed. Eat whatever you like.
-
No you shouldn't, but if you feel it's wrong certainly don't eat it now. Not only is it 'unclean' but the way pigs are treated in factory farms is certainly not Christian.
-
That's from the old testiment and was written at a time when their were no cooling ubits for food. It was written so people wouldn't die because the pig has a tendency to spoil and make people sick including death. The New testiment over ruled the old tesitment have a great day.

dont feel guilty. you were not apprised of this rule, so you shouldnt feel bad about it. some people say ignorance isnt an excuse, but in the whole scheme of things, this is pretty small potatoes. it isnt an obvious sin like murder or one of the more well known commandments. also, depending upon your religion, and their stance on the old vs. new testament, you might not have to follow this rule. lastly, take this into consideration. times have changed significantly since the the bible mandated that you shouldnt eat pigs because they are dirty animals. back then, people often got sick from eating pork. now we have a wonderful invention called refrigeration, which keeps the meat from spoiling. in general, pigs are considered clean animals. although they do produce a lot of waste and depending on the (factory) farm, may be forced to live in unclean conditions. i would talk to your church about their views on pork.

Hey, William. I know this is an old thread, but since it’s been bumped already…. Portions of the Old Testament—including the prohibition you’re talking about—were written while Israel was under the Law of Moses. The Law of Moses was always designed to be a temporary law, one that was set in place after the Israelites rejected God’s offer of the higher one. Thus, when Christ returned, He began teaching a newer, higher law: the law of the Gospel—that the Law of Moses was about to be fulfilled (which it was, with Christ’s death). In other words, I’m echoing the sentiments of others around here. If you’re curious as to God’s current commandments concerning what we put in our bodies, I believe they’re summarized here: http://scriptures.lds.org/dc/89 . But if you’re worrying about a law that was fulfilled almost 2,000 years ago, don’t be. You’ve got nothing to worry about. Peace! :-)
