What a good question. Toward the end of her life, Ayn Rand believed that human appreciation of musical harmony was intrisic. If that is true, you may come up with some creative stuff without any other sensory distraction. You should try it.

No, remember that Beethoven used to take long walks while he was composing in his head. Other writers and musicians do the same. When I think about sensory deprivation, I think about people being brain washed. That would not be creative!

Depriving one's senses of positive or negative feelings I believe would be depriving one's self of the emotions needed to create via artistic expression of who and what we really are ... No my beautiful friend, I believe the senses need to be overwhelmed with feelings, sight, and smell to enable the creation of great things ... Usually when we are alone are our senses most stimulated by our minds ... Isolation of one's self will activate the memories of accumulated senses which is often held deep within one's body and mind ... Peace

Do you mean lyrics or music? The best lyrics comes out of life experience... music composition starts with a musical motif, that is the smallest musical idea that makes sense. Add to it hours of perspiration... . Meditation is always a good idea. I do it at least once a day for 10 or 15 minutes... like this... I simply create a blank screen in my mind. (nothing nothing at all) When you first start out it takes time 'to get there' but you must persist. (the best life lesson anyway!) I can't begin to tell you how much life energy benefit you get. Just keep at it. . I have a song you might like... an old bob dylan cover, this is my favorite version by audra mae the show soa. Just please let me know if you post on youtube. You might a version you like best.
