  • My friend lives in New South Wales and said a Kanga killed her pet dog :o In America, we view Kangaroos as sweet animals which are protected. But my Australian friend has given me a new perspective on them :o
  • I hear they have strong legs and can kick very hard. +5
  • I hear they can be quite nasty..
  • Looking at the wounds on the North Melbourne man lying in his hospital bed tonight, I'd say they can be pretty dangerous! http://www.smh.com.au/national/rogue-roo-a-fearful-combatant-in-dam-attack-20091124-j91v.html
  • I heard they can kick like a mule when pissed off.....
  • Very dangerous, I might not duck quick enough...lol
  • No more than any other animal - herbivorous, carnivorous or omnivorous. But they will attack if provoked, I assume. With their strong physique and heavy body weight their attack could prove dangerous. The same principle regarding all animals must apply to them too: Leave them alone and they will leave you alone.
  • They can be quite dangerous, especially if you get between a mother and it's joey, or a male and a female during mating season. Their middle toe is like a dagger, and their tails can easily support their entire weight. They can lean right back and slash at you. Pretty scary. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bTOWxcZC6M&feature=related
  • Also heard about the guy in Australia, like SilentPurr. That shows just how dangerous they can get.
  • I think others have pointed out many ways that they can be dangerous. I would add (not from personal experience) that I understand they're involved in a quite a few auto accidents. Not unlike deer in many parts of the U.S. . They are beautful animals, and kind of cute. . But my friends out west here in the U.S. have attitudes about bears, and my friends in the Northeast have attitudes about moose, that mirror my attitudes about bobcats and alligators. . It's amazing how much cuter or pretty things can seem when you don't have to worry about meeting one in your backyard.
  • I read that story. It is quite harsh. I remember seeing movies years ago of men going out at night and very cruelly hunting kangaroos in the lights of the landrovers. To some people, it was a national sport. Maybe it is payback time. But, on another tack, it is happening in South Africa too that wild animals are encroaching more and more on towns and cities. I just wonder if it has not got something to do with man's behaviour -- construction and noise and using up all natural forests, areas; encroaching on and disturbing animals' natural environments; or maybe even global warming (if there is such a thing) depriving them of natural food and privacy. Just a personal thought.
  • You piss one off and you are dead. They are strong and they have tempers. They are like mules on hind legs.
