I'm for that. Yes.
Nothing wrong with taxpayers funding the arts, of which opera is one.
Not being an Opera lover I would still say yes because I would want them to fund the Ballet.
May as well give it a try....
Music and the arts should be supported in some manner.
I think anyone, that is wealthy enough to both afford and appreciate opera, can support that particular type of music themselves.
I don't see anyone supporting rock, heavy metal, or hard core rap. It should be all or nothing.
+5
definitely
Along with an incessant loop of the screetch of fingernails on blackboards, keithold!
[you pay more tax to have the volume (of the opera) decreased?]
;-)
only if there is no admission fee
Why the Hell not?
We fund wars to kill and destroy simply for the power and wealth of others ...
To fund something wonderful would be a rewarded tax paid for a good change ...
Peace
absolutely not.
the arts are an important part of any society and go a long way toward civilizing it's populace, so i say absolutely, yes!

Since you are Australian, I want you to know that I enjoy Australian opera, because I watch it on the Australian channel called Ovation all the time. Just the other day I saw "La Bohemme". I thought I heard the most beautiful voices I had ever heard in opera. Even if Australians don't all enjoy it, I think it would be a shame to cut funds for it. You have one of the most beautiful opera houses in the world also! I watch all the operas from there!
