  • Sometimes it is difficult to know exactly what the questioner is asking, so misunderstandings do occur. I just try my best to clarify my position and understand theirs.
  • Not too often. Come to think of it, I've only had a run in with one on another forum. Easily delt with; you just tell them that they're full of shit. Works fairly well.
  • that's what happened to me with the first question i asked on here. it really offended me, because it seemed like they were just so excited to assume the worst, make me look like some jerry springer guest, and i was asking a very personal question about something that was deeply affecting me (and still is). it seems like some people just wait to pounce ... i would've never cared if i wasn't so emotionally connected to it though.
  • Actually, it sounds like no one knows the definition of a 'Straw Man' fallacy. It's when you misrepresent a person's position or statement AND THEN proceed to attempt building a logical argument on the fallacy. It's not just simply flaming.
