Help answer this question below.
Yes. Since he is a pure breed Malamute I wanted to know all about the breed and what kind of care and attention he required.
No. If I have a question, I will ask the vet or look it up on the internet.
No,I didn't buy the dog either,,I have had enough animals in my lifetime to know proper care for the treatment and diet of them.
No,i grew up with dogs.
Yes. A lot of stuff. Never really owned a dog. But I think a dog is like a child in so many ways. You can read all this stuff, but its more of a learn as you go process. They talked about training as in sitting and potty. But it wasn't successful, I did it my own way and worked great. So I don't know.
We have had dogs ever since I was a child. My mom had us read manuals on how to care for them.

I've never read a book on it. I've always just followed the vets advice on care and feeding. A book would have probably been a good idea for training.
No, I did not as I had dogs before and already knew how to care for them.
How can I stop my dog from crying when I leave the room or house?

Hey Skeeter my son has a purebred Malamute. Wonderful dogs!

Oh they are beauties. Gentle and a bit stubborn. Big babies really. Mine is a giant breed. 180lbs. He is 7 1/2 yrs. Unfortunately he has cancer. A tumor the size of a baseball in his bladder. Nothing they can do for him so I have medication to make him comfy until the inevitable day, which is coming soon as he is not doing too well. He has his good and bad days.

Oh Skeeter I am so sorry to hear this!!!
They are big babies. Shed horribly but his has the sweetest personality.

How old is his? And I'm curious. Does he hate his paws being touched? That apparently is a thing with Malamutes. They will give you their paw, even whack you in the head with them, but do not touch them or they scream like a banshee.

Yes she hates having her paws messed with. I was trying to teach her to "shake" hands until he explained she didn't like it. lol!
Love to hear them howl. :-) She's probably about 3 or 4. I can't remember for sure. Just had her first litter last year.

Ha ha. They don't bark, they howl. Love it. As for the paw thing. I believe they are very protective of them. Instinct. Their paws are very important to them in the wild. This comes back to the original question. "do you read up on dog care" For many breeds you must!
